Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to release on May 5, 2017 and is going to be a sequel that will blow away your expectations. To start, let’s discuss the main storyline and plot of the movie, so you can get a feel for what you can expect when you watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Just as it was pretty difficult to get a good idea of what the first Guardians of the Galaxy was going to be like, the same goes for the second volume. While not many details have been shared, we do have a little insight into what the storyline will be thanks to numerous interviews with those who are involved with the production of the film.

This film, unlike most of the Marvel Studios sequels, will not use real time to show how much time has passed since the first movie. Instead, this movie is set to start two months after the end of part one. Although the trailers have given little away regarding the plot, we do know that the film will explore Peter’s bond with his father, who will be a new character played by Kurt Russell.

Karen Gillan, former Doctor Who actress, will return to play the villain Nebula in the sequel. Her prediction? Her character will not be so unpopular this time around. She says that we start to see her character crack in an emotional way and you start to sympathize with her.

Nebula’s relationship with Thanos, her dad who is played by Josh Brolin, could be the reason we see Nebula in a new light. We know in the first movie that she is an angry woman who clearly has daddy issues and in this one we start to see just how much pain her dad caused her in her life which made her the way she is. Also, the film will dive into the relationship she has with Gamora, her sister, as well.

Another thing we know about the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 full movie is that it will touch on very important subjects regarding where the characters come from, their families, and how that affects who they are and why they are the way they are.

Even though we do not have too much information about what is going to go down in the sequel, the information we’ve been given reveals that it is going to be a pretty exciting movie.

Chris Pratt as Peter Quill

In the first movie, Peter Quill was initially portrayed as a jerk, womanizer, and thief. However, he went through a transformation that helped him develop into a true, mature leader in the end. If you recall, Gamora’s last lines in the movie proved that Peter is now who they look to for guidance in their future adventures together.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 full movie will surely be a difficult one for Peter because he is both inexperienced as a leader and he is also completely, head over heels in love with Gamora, which could lead to other issues. Also, Peter Quill will be coming to terms with being half-alien, which is something he discovered toward the end of the first film.

In part two, we learn that his father is actually Ego The Living Planet, which means Peter will not only be dealing with being half human half alien, he will also question whether or not he can trust his father whom he just discovered.

Zoe Saldana as Gamora

As you probably know if you caught part one, Gamora has had a hard life for pretty much her entire life. Her parents were killed in front of her by a crazy alien who ended up raising Gamora as his daughter. While those awful days seem to be something of the past for her now, this doesn’t mean everything is fine now. Gamora has found a family in Peter Quill, Groot, and Drax and is seeking a life of happiness. However, this does not mean her enemies are willing to let her do this so easily.

In this movie, Thanos is not happy about his daughter betraying him in order to become a hero. Also, do not let it slip your mind that the evil Nebula is still fighting and is very much still around. Thanos has yet to be confirmed for the film but either way, we can expect something intense to happen between Nebula and Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 full movie.

Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer

If you remember, at the end of part one Drax said every bit of his attention was now on Thanos after finding out he is the one who has been pulling the strings all along. If you do a little research about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 online, you will find out that something is going to be revealed about this alien warrior that nobody knows about.

While there are no specifics yet as to what will happen with Drax story-wise, according to what we see in the trailers, he will be a close friend with Peter Quill and will help him sort through his feelings and love for Gamora.

Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon

In the end of part one, Rocket Raccoon does seem to begin to understand how important it is to have other people in his life. However, he was still not considered a super happy character. Again, nothing specific has been revealed regarding his storyline but he will likely have to deal with some huge changes that are going to go on with his best friend, Groot.

Vin Diesel as Groot

While Groot was only able to speak five words in part one, in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 full movie, he is expected to bring some emotional moments to this film as well. Groot will still be a baby and will be around for a lot of the new movie. He will have no memory at all of anything that happened before the Dark Aster events, so Rocket has to show him how to do everything all over again.

Karen Gillan as Nebula

As briefly mentioned before, Nebula will return and she is expected to have a complete change of heart according to some interviews found about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 online. The artwork for the movie suggests she will actually become a member of the team, which is shocking to those who know anything about her.

Michael Rooker as Yondu

Yondu is a major addition to the sequel. While we do not know how he ends up being a part of the team, we know he will have a new prototype head fin that assists him in using his arrow that is controlled by a whistle.

The Ravagers

The Ravagers in part two are imprisoning Yondu and Rocket and also threaten to completely destroy Groot. We aren’t sure why they turn on their former friends and their leader, but all we know is they end up paying for the bad things they do in this sequel. If this doesn’t get you excited to watch Guardians of the Galaxy 2 we don’t know what will!

Pom Klementieff as Mantis

This is a new character who was born in Vietnam and her father left her when she was very young. She was left at an alien temple and has a unique type of emotional telepathy that allows her to closely connect with other’s feelings. She seems like she is going to add some humor and depth to the film, and we can’t wait.

Kurt Russell as Ego The Living Planet

Ego The Living Planet is revealed as Peter’s dad and took on a human form in order to be with Peter’s mom. This is how she ended up having Star-Lord as a baby. This is basically all we know, but the sequel will explain everything!

The first movie defied all expectations the audience had about what a Marvel movie could be. While the directors are now faced with the tough challenge of making that happen again, we have no doubts they can pull it off.

The director, James Gunn, is convinced that it is not only going to meet expectations, but it is going to exceed them as well. His goal is to surprise his audience by doing things differently and throwing in things that are completely unexpected. This time, the story will go deeper and it will explore every character, so you have a good idea of why everyone acts and behaves the way they do. Basically, the sequel will better explain the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

There is a great deal of speculation about Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 online regarding whether or not it will be as good as the first, but we have high hopes that this film is going to be a great success.
